Cheney Slams Obama for ‘Dithering’ and ‘Waffling’ as U.S. Troops Face Constant Danger

By PoliJAM | October 22, 2009

Speaking at the Center for Security Policy “Keeper of the Flame” Dinner on Wednesday night, former Vice President Dick Cheney unleashed a scathing attack on the Obama administration’s foreign policy.

Saying that President Obama’s strategic blunders have helped to embolden our enemies, Mr. Cheney accused the President of “dithering” and “waffling” on the war in Afghanistan as our troops come under constant danger, as well as acting in bad faith with our allies in Eastern Europe.

“Having announced his Afghanistan strategy in March, President Obama now seems afraid to make a decision, and unable to provide his commander on the ground with the troops he needs to complete the mission.

“It’s time for President Obama to make good on his promise. The White House must stop dithering while America’s armed forces are in danger.

“Make no mistake, signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries.

“Waffling, while our troops on the ground face an emboldened enemy, endangers them and hurts our cause.

“So among my other concerns about the drift of events under the present administration, I consider the abandonment of missile defense in Eastern Europe to be a strategic blunder and a breach of good faith.
