President Obama Has Only Contacted the U.S. Commander in Afghanistan ‘ONCE’
By PoliJAM | September 28, 2009
U.S. Commander-in-Chief Barack Obama has apparently been too busy preparing school speeches, doing interviews on Sunday talk shows and the Late Show with David Letterman, as well as planning trips to Copenhagen in a push for a Chicago Olympic bid, since he can’t seem to find the time to call up the U.S. Commander in Afghanistan as American soldiers are being shot at in the battle field.
During the 2008 presidential election campaign, then-Senator Obama said that the president should be able to ‘chew gum and walk at the same time’ – a reference to being able to handle multiple priorities.
But who would have thought that pushing his health care plan on the Letterman show was a bigger priority to Mr. Obama than a situation in which he has sent our brave men an woman into battle?
Is pushing health care reform and trying to avoid calls for a decision to be made on Afghanistan the ‘chew gum and walk at the same time’ that the president had in mind?
In the video below, Gen. Stanley McChrystal tells 60 Minutes David Martin that he has only spoken with President Obama once since arriving in Afghanistan as the top U.S. commander in the region.
Share ThisDAVID MARTIN: How often do you talk to the president?
GENERAL STANLEY MCCHRYSTAL: I’ve talked to the president since I’ve been here once on the VTC.
MARTIN: You talked to him once in 70 days?
MCCHRYSTAL: That’s correct.
MARTIN:You expect to be talking to him more than that? It seemed like the theater commander talked to President Bush on a weekly basis.
MCCHRYSTAL: Well I don’t think I lack for guidance or an understanding of his intent, but it would certainly be up to him on the frequency.

Absolutely ludicrous that our commander-in-chief would show such little interest in our brave soldiers who are fighting to protect our freedom
