Obama Ally: Dem Congressional Majority History if ObamaCare Fails

By PoliJAM | August 20, 2009

ABC News’ is reporting that staunch Obama ally Andy Stern, the president of the SEIU which strongly backs President Obama, predicted that the Democrats would lose their congressional majority in the 2010 midterm elections if they were to fail to pass a health care reform bill.

“I think we’re talking losing control of Congress,” said Andy Stern, the president of the Service Employees International Union. “[The failure of health-care reform] would totally empower Republicans to kill all change.”

“It’s hard to imagine the Democrats convincing the public that Republicans are to blame for health-care reform going down when the Democrats have such large majorities,” he added. “After last year’s promise of change, voters will start feeling buyer’s remorse.”

In light of this, Mr. Stern said the SEIU was prepared to use it’s resources to pressure Democrats in Congress to go along with Mr. Obama’s health care reform plans if no progress is made by the Sept. 15 deadline that Senate Finance Committee negotiators set for themselves.

Pressure tactics being used by members of the SEIU has already been seen during the health care debate, with the SEIU assaulting and using a racial slur against a black conservative in Missouri, denying health care reform protesters entrance into town halls, filling town hall events before protesters can arrive, and launching web video attack campaigns against what they refer to as ‘Glenn Beck Teabaggers.

Those are just a few examples of what is likely to come if the SEIU does not get its way on the health care legislation.

Blue Dog Democrats are also receiving heavy pressure from Teamsters President James Hoffa, who all but threatened the conservative leaning Dems to pass health care reform legislation or risk losing support from the union boss in the 2010 elections for “making a big mistake.”

It seems a replay of the 1994 Republican takeover of Congress after the failure of HillaryCare is looking closer to becoming a reality.

I just don’t get it. If health care reform passes, the dems will lose seats in Congress. If health care reform fails, the dems will STILL lose seats in Congress. Doesn’t the SEIU and Teamsters understand this?

either there is no logic being used by our administration, or they just have this mastermind plan that is beyond comprehension.
