John Mellencamp Asks McCain Camp to Stop Using His Music
By PoliJAM | February 4, 2008

Representatives of John Mellencamp have contacted the McCain campaign to ask them to stop playing Mellencamp’s music at McCain campaign rallies. John Mellencamp is a Democrat who had been supporting John Edwards’ presidential race until Edwards dropped out of the race last week. Mellencamp songs such as “Our Country” and “Pink Houses” have been commonly heard at McCain rallies. But Mellencamp hopes that is coming to an end.

Good for John, now he should throw his support behind Dr. Ron Paul, a truly honest hardworking American who never backs down to anyone but the Constitution.

Oh no, someone may think he endorses McCain or something. Maybe he should ask other people he doesn’t like to stop listening to his music. Baby. Grow up.

What a terrible thing to do. I’m not a McCain supporter, but when you sell your product, and people buy it, then it’s over.
It’d be like Nike saying “John, quit wearing our shoes, we support Edwards!”
Ridiculous.

Get over yourself Mellencamp. Now noone will hear your crappy tunes.

McCain will ignore this as you would expect him to.
I suggest Mellencamp go to a McCain Rally and get to the podium and say….stop it asshole.

What a tool!
Mellencamp’s music isn’t for Republicans? Is he trying to make himself even less relevant? My guess is that a huge portion of his fan base identify themselves as Republicans — they should know how he feels about their listening to his music.

Mellencamp doesn’t get to decide who listens to his music. Rush Limbaugh has been playing the Pretenders “My City Was Gone” as his theme song since day one and Crissy Hynd HATEs it. Suck it up, John, and remember that this is a free country.

I believe the Bush camp asked Mellencamp for permission to use his music in the ‘04 election, and he turned them down as well.

Mellencamp is a pompous ass…and an overrated songwriter to boot. He’s just p.o.’d because he supported clueless Edwards, who had absolutely no shot at the presidency in the first place.
