ADN: Palin Helps Alaska’s Budget as Palin Cooks & Children Make Sandwiches

By PoliJAM | August 31, 2008

The McCain campaign has been touting Governor Palin’s reformist credentials on how she has cut Alaska government spending and gone after what was considered the corrupt Republican Governor’s office that preceded her administration.

In one such instance, the Anchorage Daily News reported on June 29, 2007 that:

“Governor Sarah Palin told Stefani Marnon, the personal gourmet chef at the Mansion that the “Governor’s Mansion in Juneau won’t be needing a professional cook until the legislative session” during the coming winter. The Governor knows how to cook, and her children can make sandwiches, she said. The family will prepare its own meals. At a time when other departments are asked to make reductions, the Governor felt this was an important step for her family to take.

“The decision to downsize chef time at the Governor’s Mansion was estimated to save the state $45,000.”
