McCain Slams Obama for Giving Iran More Time to Acquire Nukes; W.H. Says ‘Talking’ Sanctions as Deadline Nears
By PoliJAM | December 20, 2009
Continuing to act in defiance of the Obama administration and the world community on the issue of nuclear enrichment, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the tiny tyrant of Tehran, said that a new report that showed Iran has been working on a nuclear trigger for a nuclear warhead are “fabricated papers issued by the American government” and nothing more than “repetitive and tasteless jokes.”
That claim “nonsense,” countered Senior White House Adviser David Axelrod during an interview on ABC News’ This Week.
Will sanctions be imposed on Iran if as expected Iran does not change course by the end of the year deadline, host George Stephanopoulos asked.
AXELROD: “Well, we’re talking — plainly, there are going to be consequences if they don’t turn around.”
Unlike Axelrod, Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) was much more forceful on the Iranian regime that seems to be viewing the Obama administration’s talk of “consequences” as nothing more than empty threats.
Speaking on Fox News Sunday, McCain said the administration should act now to impose sanctions on Iran and slammed Obama for giving the regime “additional time to continue their efforts at acquisition of nuclear weapons.”
McCain also blasted Obama for not speaking up and showing support for the Iranian dissidents that are crying out on the streets of Iran for their freedom.

“It’s not an accident the demonstrators are saying ‘Obama, Obama, who’s — are you on — are you with us or are you with them?’ Let’s make it very clear we are with these people who are struggling for freedom as we always have.”
