SA Smith: Unlike Reagan, Predecessor Bashing Obama Trying to Absolve Himself of His Responsibilities
By PoliJAM | December 14, 2009
By constantly trying to pin blame on former President George W. Bush, President Barack Obama is trying to absolve himself of the responsibilities that he himself accepted to take on when he accepted the presidency of the United States, sports columnist Stephen A. Smith said Monday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
“When you accept the presidency, when you accept the nomination and ultimately you are voted as the president of the United States, and you consistently mention what your predecessor has done wrong as an excuse, what you’re trying to do is absolve yourself from any responsibility whatsoever.”
By contrast, Smith went on to say, when Ronald Reagan inherited a similar economic mess from his predecessor Jimmy Carter, Reagan didn’t complain about the mess he inherited like Obama constantly is heard doing now.
