Sen. Boxer Attempts to Turn Climategate Into ‘Email-Theft-Gate’ as Warmist Scandal Grows
By PoliJAM | December 2, 2009
At a Senate hearing of the Environment and Public Works Committee on Wednesday, Committee Ranking Member Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) called on Committee Chairwoman Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) to hold a hearing into the Climategate scandal.
“One cannot deny that the emails raise fundamental questions concerning, among other things, transparency and openness in science, especially taxpayer funded science. What do I mean? Well, in addition to a pair of attempts to manipulate the data and vilify scientists with opposing view points, there is evidence that some of the world’s preeminent scientists, who received or have received taxpayer funded grants, evaded laws requiring information disclosure, including the freedom of information act. Not only is this a potential violation of the law, but it violates a fundamental principle of the scientific method.”
In response, Boxer attacked the computer hackers that revealed the statistical trickery, conspiracy and fraudulent criminal activity of the supposed prominent climate scientists that warmists rely on in their push for cap-and-trade regulation.
Attempting to dismiss the Climategate emails, the California Democrat claimed that it is the computer hackers that should be under criminal investigation.
“You call it ‘Climategate’; I call it ‘E-mail-theft-gate.’ Whatever it is, the main issue is, are we facing global warming or are we not? I’m sure you agree, that’s the basic question for us. I’m looking at these e-mails, that, even though they were stolen, they are now out in the public, and we are looking through these emails. We are also calling the leading scientists of the world. We may well have a hearing on this, we may not. We may have a briefing for senators, we may not, we’re looking at this. This is a crime … Part of our looking at this will be looking at a criminal activity which could have well been coordinated.”
On the same day as the Inhofe-Boxer exchange above, Democrats found themselves on the defensive during a Congressional hearing on climate change as they attempted to dismiss Climategate as just a few minor emails.
During the hearing, Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wisc.) brought up the scandalous Climategate emails, saying they must be looked into to find the extent of the fraudulent climate science that cap-and-trade proponents are relying on to push their economically burdensome ideology.
“These emails show a patter of suppression, manipulation and secrecy that was inspired by ideology, condescension, and profit. They read more like scientific fascism than scientific process.”
Committee Chairman Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) then tried to dismiss the Climategate scandal as just a couple of emails, before using what is likely fraudulent data to tout the dangers of global warming.

Ms. Boxer, these emails are not entitled to privacy. All of this research is funded by taxpayer dollars, and the emails are part of the records the researchers are supposed to be keeping in connection with their work.

Not just a “couple” hacked e-mails, but thousands! The crime here, Ms. Boxer, is that this research is funded by “taxpayer” dollars, and these scientists rigged the data with “our” money, and that is what needs to be investigated, not the hackers, or “whistleblowers”. I can remember you encouraging “whistleblowers”, what has changed you mind on this? I would think this would be “good-news”, that there is no man-made global warming or raising oceans that could kill all humans in the next few years, but no, you seem to have a very different view on this. I’m wondering how much monies you have tied into the hoax? Are you in businss with Al Gore?
