Dem Senator Vows to Block ObamaCare if Senate Bill Looks Like House Bill
Posted in: Politics
Blasting the “totally government-run plan” pushed through the House by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska tells ABC News’ Jonathan Karl that he vows to block any Senate health care bill that looks anything like the House health care bill.
“Well, first of all, it has more than a robust public option, it’s got a totally government-run plan, the costs are extraordinary associated with it, it increases taxes in a way that will not pass in the Senate and I could go on and on and on.”
When asked about the pressure he has received from outside left-wing groups that have challenged him on his stance against the public option, Nelson took aim at former DNC Chairman Howard Dean and “the Deaniacs” for being special interests with an agenda not in line with that of the people of Nebraska.
“Howard Dean and the Deaniacs and all those folks, they have their own — they’re special interests, they have their own agenda. And my agenda, I think, is the same as the people in Nebraska, their agenda, and I am going to do what I think is right.”
