White House Communications Chief Anita Dunn to Step Down
By PoliJAM | November 10, 2009
The White House on Tuesday decided to shake up its communications team, with Anita Dunn, the White House communications director, stepping down due to family reasons.
Dunn, who held her post on an interim basis after the prior worker at the post jumped to the Commerce Department, is said to be moving to a new role as an outside adviser to the Obama administration, with her current post being taken by her deputy Dan Pfeiffer.
As the interim communications chief, Dunn made headlines after she accused the Fox News cable network of being “the communications arm of the Republican Party.”
In response to the accusation by Dunn, Fox News host Glenn Beck installed a ‘White House Hotline’ for Dunn to call him live on the show in order to correct him of any errors she feels he is making.
But Dunn may be best remembered by a much talked about video aired by Beck, in which the White House communications director can be seen praising her two favorite political philosophers: Mao Tse Tung and Mother Theresa.
We will have to wait and see if Dunn’s replacement, Dan Pfeiffer, has a damaging video trail himself.
But one would assume that White House workers are taking extra precautions now that a few members of the administration have been recorded making rather questionable quotes.
