Boehner: Obama Promised a Jobs ‘Stimulus,’ But Only Stimulated ‘More Spending and More Debt’
By PoliJAM | November 6, 2009
Following Friday’s morning news that the U.S. unemployment rate passed the dreaded 10% psychological threshold by reaching a stunning 26-year-high of 10.2%, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) slammed President Barack Obama for “failing short” in helping struggling American families and small businesses.
Instead of of creating jobs as promised, Boehner said, the only thing Democrats in Washington were stimulating was “more spending and more debt.”
“A jobless recovery and double-digit unemployment are not what the American people were promised. Democrats pledged that the so-called ‘stimulus’ would create jobs immediately and keep the unemployment rate from going above eight percent. But since the ‘stimulus’ was signed into law, more than three million private sector jobs have been lost. Americans are asking “Where are the jobs?” but all they’ve gotten from Democrats in Washington is more spending and more debt.
On top of the rising unemployment numbers, Boehner warns that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) “$1.3 trillion government takeover of health care” will destroy an additional 5.5 million jobs.
Share This“Speaker Pelosi’s plan includes job-killing taxes and mandates that will hurt small businesses. For the sake of our families and small businesses, this job-killing bill deserves to be defeated.”
