Obama Gives a Shout-Out … Before Addressing Fort Hood Tragedy

By PoliJAM | November 5, 2009

Before delivering his remarks on the devastating Fort Hood shooting tragedy that occurred not long before President Barack Obama took to the podium, the president took about a minute to thank his advisers, even giving a “shout-out” to one individual in attendance.

“Let me first of all just thank Ken and the entire Department of the Interior staff for organizing just an extraordinary conference.”

“I want to thank my Cabinet members and senior administration officials who participated today. I hear that Dr. Joe Medicine Crow was around, and so I want to give a shout out to that Congressional Medal of Honor winner. It’s good to see you.”

Er… did you really watch this before writing? He was speaking at an unrelated event (for Native American affairs), this was not a press conference about Ft Hood (Fox News just made it sound that way). He just used the opportunity to say a few words about it in the middle.

At least he wasn’t reading My Pet Goat when 3,000 Americans were dying…

What happen to mr charisma? 12 people die and 30 + wounded and if it didn;’t say at the bottom of the screen you’d have no idea that was the topic. Real sincere guy . . .

    JJ,
A really thoughtful post. How would you like it if one of your loved ones was murdered and the Prez gave a shout out before commenting? Also, I don’t remember Bush thanking his staff for a great job before his address about 9/11. But of coarse Bush was an adult.

JJ, you are a douchebag. Hussein Obama had the information about the shooting in front of him when he began making that speech, and STILL neglected to comment on it for over 2 minutes so he could finish telling the native Americans how victimized they are in our country. Then he gives the most shallow, cursory remarks he can think of about the shooting. Another thing, Bush couldn’t just run out of the school when he heard about the planes. His detail needs to make sure it is safe for him before he goes anywhere. And in case you just woke up from an 11 month coma, Bush is not the President anymore; Obama is! That is the only defense you libtards have for your messiah: What about Bush? What about Bush? What about Bush? Cry me a river. When you can’t debate the issue (which is 99% of the time), you just cry racist, fascist, or mention Bush and that magically makes you right.

First off I am a Democrat, not a blue dog but a hard core liberal and proud! Having said that my wife and I were shocked by the way he handled this tragedy. He made a HUGE mistake, a “shout out” or even a smile today of all days. The fort Hood tragedy should of been the first topic, then cameras leave and he talks to the crowd.
It was a mistake that he will be attacked on and this time rightly so.
See Democrat are willing to judge their own. We are not Ditto Heads.

This democratic party is Defiant against America!

How come nobody is reporting about all of the internet chatter and YouTube videos complaining about yet another example of President “ROCKSTAR” and his latest example of ineptness when handling important issues?

The complaints are (and I agree with them) about when the news networks tuned in to hear comments from our President on the attack on soldiers at Fort Hood, The Commander and Chief of the Armed Forces blathered on for several minutes to chalk up some political points with a group of Native Americans and then took a moment to give a “Shout out” to some “Medicine Man” in attendance before finally mentioning that 43 Americans and Soldiers were just killed or wounded on American soil by some Muslim soldier shouting “Allah Akbar!”

Maybe this is just my opinion, but when you’re the President and Commander of the Armed Forces and you are informed that some of your men have been Killed by another soldier (who just happens to be a Muslim)…and the Nation tunes in to hear your comments…By God, you’d better make that your lead story…the politics can wait.

If the President had been killed and the nation tuned in to Fox News for information, and instead heard Shepard Smith reporting… “The Circus is coming to town and it looks like another rainy day in South Florida…and… Oh, by the way, The President’s Dead.”… You can bet heads would be rolling at FOX! -> GO to Youtube and put “OBAMA GIVES A SHOUT OUT / Fort Hood ” in the search block .

    James,

You hard core liberal you – You’re the first I have heard that makes me think that there are some of you who are sane. Thank you very much for posting here thus giving me the opportunity to reconsider my current mind set re: hard core liberals.

I wish everyone could put politics aside and just do the right thing for America and Americans!

As for the ’shout out’ that was not just in poor taste it was deplorable! This shout out offers proof positive that he is not fit to be Commander in Chief of our service men and women – They deserve so much more!

I was at the conference at the Dept of Interior. I can ASSURE YOU that there was nothing inappropriate about how he presented this news. People love to inferences based on limited data. He returned back to the Conference, as promised. He was suppose to spend more time interacting with the Tribal leaders but was VERY distraught about Ft. Hood. Rather than just going right into Ft. Hood, he thanked the participants for coming to the meeting and then went on to this Ft. Hood announcement. He was very respectful. This WAS NOT a press conference, rather a meeting of Tribal Leaders throughout the Country. I am a USAF Vet, and I was moved by his comments and his empathy towards the families and wounded at Ft. Hood.

One has to remember…MUSLIMS DO NOT TURN AGAINST MUSLIMS. The commander in chief is a MARXIST MUSLIM. He has tried to hide this fact from all the kool-aid drinkers, and has succeeded up until now…Many are getting the message this man is a PHONEY AMERICAN! Soldiers come from liberal, moderate, and conservative families…AMERICANS….No way is BO going to be sincere in speaking about dead and injured AMERICANS…why would he when he is not one? The fact he dallies about sending more troops to Afganistan should tell all thinkin Americans where his loyalties lie…MUSLIMS DO NOT KILL OTHER MUSLIMS when they are fighting the enemy.

I am of Cherokee decent. My son is a War veteran and he is insulted!

As I said in my previous post the “Shout Out” was in poor taste, deplorable and completely inappropriate.

Given the fact that a Muslim just murdered our service men and women – it matters not what conference he was in at the time! It is because BHO is a muslim himself that the conference was his first priority instead of our service men and women.

Priorities everybody needs to know how to prioritize and since BHO doesn’t I say once again he is unfit to be Commander in Chief!

  17. Tassie McLennan Says:

In an emergency of this magnitude….our soldiers HAVE TO COME FIRST! Politics are secondary when lives are lost and injured…SHAME ON MARXIST MUSLIM OBAMA…He showed where his priorities are…NOT WITH THE SOLDIERS DEFENDING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA….btw…ALL ARE PART OF AN ALL VOLUNTEER SERVICE…Nobody made them be dedicated to US…It is in their AMERICAN DNA. BHO does NOT have the same DNA!

It is a sad state of the political climate when THIS is made into a major point of outrage. We are at a place, if there is a tragedy, then someone is going to nitpick TO DEATH how the president of the United States addressed the issue, if they disagree with him.

If you are getting upset over this, you seriously don’t have anything else to focus on. I personally witness my unemployment benefits get delayed multiple weeks, due to it being turned into a political football. It came close to making myself homeless as a result. I have a Masters degree also. But hey, I guess the president sticking to a speech he had written, and then sticking a comment referencing a tragedy just isn’t the right response. Just like the last president should of left the school and stop reading the Goat book, this president should of canceled. Then we can complain apparently Obama is unable to multitask.

Try to find some other things more significant to complain about than this. And stop being shrill whiners who thinks this will SOMEONE score political points and make a difference.

There is NO excuse for him to continue on with his initial speech, when FOX news joined that conference; he had not yet even walked up to the podium. I am sure he was informed of the horrific incident that happened approx. 3hrs prior to his speaking at this event. My husband, who is a SSG in the US Army currently deployed to Iraq from Fort Hood, was on the phone with me about 45mins after it happened and already knew about it!!
President George W. Bush was in the middle of an elementary classroom full of children while a teacher read a book. He IN fact changed his itinerary & immediately addressed what had just happened!! Honestly that’s the best you got??
And it may be a petty issue to some that people here are upset that the COMMANDER IN CHIEF decided to give a shout out, chuckle and then oh BTW we got something going over in Fort Hood!! That is my backyard!! I left the post just 45min’s before it happened!! My husband if he isn’t over in Iraq works just a few feet away from where this took place! A few of my friends had not been accounted for for over 5hrs. and I was sick to my stomach!!
I had wanted Gore to win in 2000, but when Pres. Bush got on the networks (not once trying to omit one news organization) I changed my opinion about him and for the very first time in my adult life voted for his (re)election in 2004!! I am glad that I did!! No other incident had taken place on our soil until … yeah!!
GOD BLESS the families and loved ones of the ones lost on that November day …

” … Due to the circumstances that happened on Fort Hood, the President will NOT be speaking today …” Was that hard?

I’m a conservative but I have to agree with one of the first people who posted. FOX news perpetrated this event to make it look as though BHO was speaking about the Ft Hood massacre. When in fact he was a Native American conference. If you listen or even read the opening statement it’s obvious he’s not speaking directly about the massacre.
How he conducted himself with the shout-outs and all was in bad taste. It gave a talk show sort of feel this conference. I’d bet most Native Americans were insulted.
What insults and disgusts me is how my conservative brothers actually waste time turning this into something it simply is not. This was conference concerning Native American affairs.
His brief mention of Ft Hood should not have been taken out of context and twisted. BHO screws up enough on the day to day issues and the “across the board” workings we really shouldn’t be trying use smoke and mirrors. FOX news owes everyone an apology for spinning this as they did, and we as Americans need to pay attention.
Shame on FOX for the crappy irresponsible reporting, Shame on conservatives for making something out of nothing and shame on Mr President for treating this conference like his own late night show and actually having a monologue…thas just tacky and tasteless.
